As of April 24, 2021 - India has registered close to 350,000 daily detections and nearly 2800 daily deaths. AID has a presence in more than 20 states of India, 35+ US chapters, and thousands of volunteers who continuously volunteer and provide support. Your support will help provide relief across India. The support will reach from the Rann of Kutch to the Gangetic planes and from the Himalayas to the coastal Andhra. Even to North East India. We are collaborating with National Rural Health Mission, Maharashtra, to help them procure Oxygen Generation Plants and Concentrators. This time, the COVID 19 virus has spread to remote locations in India, and apart from hunger-related issues, we have the additional health care calamity. There is a shortage of Oxygen generation plants and Oxygen Concentrators. So on top of our efforts to procure these facilities, it is essential to protect the most vulnerable population in India. Our immediate task is to ensure: 1) Healthcare helplines across India 2) Reduce misinformation and awareness campaigns across India, especially the importance of Vaccination 3) Ration Kit for the Needy 4) PPE Kit distribution to the front line health care workers and supporters 5) Support to another anticipated wave of migrant workers across India 6) Fair access to Oxygen supplies and medication 7) Oxygen concentrators procurement and purchase to the most vulnerable locations 8) Small Oxygen generation plants at public hospitals 9) Plasma donation appeal and drive 10) Long-term livelihood projects to support income generation for vulnerable populations 11) Advocacy with the village level Panchayats, Corporations, and local government. We will update more as we get more information from the ground.

Croatia Earthquake Fund - 2020 Disaster Relief
A powerful 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck Croatia on Tuesday, December 29th. At least six people were killed, dozens were wounded and several towns in central Croatia were left in ruins. The full extent of casualties was not known and as daylight faded, emergency crews, assisted by the military, searched the wreckage for survivors. The quake, which hit just after noon local time about 30 miles from the capital, Zagreb, could be felt across the Balkans and as far away as Hungary. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/29/world/europe/croatia-earthquake.html It followed a smaller earthquake a day earlier and another in March, rattling residents in the earthquake-prone region. The epicenter of the quake was near the towns of Petrinja and Sisak, which is home to the region’s largest hospital, rendered largely unusable because of damage. Although people injured in the quake were still being taken to the facility to be triaged, including two in critical condition, the government said it would evacuate the patients there. That effort would also include moving 40 coronavirus patients to other facilities. In March, an earthquake of magnitude 5.3 hit Zagreb caused wide damage of 26,000 buildings and homes. https://www.croatiaweek.com/photos-two-earthquakes-rock-the-croatian-capital-zagreb/ With the urgency of leaving their homes, the situation was exacerbated by the ongoing fight with COVID-19 with people not allowed to gather in groups and travel to other regions to slow the speading of the virus down. The consequences of this earthquake became immediately evident: downtown residents had to leave their homes and move to student dorms, several cultural institutions, including educational facilities, museums and the famed Zagreb Cathedral, sustained significant damage. Many hospitals were forced to evacuate patients and move them to safer locations with the help of the army personnel amid freezing temperatures.

COVID-19 Response in Southern Africa, Kenya, and Nigeria Fund
Even as the COVID-19 pandemic has brought daily life to a standstill, in many parts of the world, armed conflict and other situations of violence continue, exacting a heavy toll on vulnerable communities. For people already living with volatile security conditions and/or dealing with the impact of climate change, the spread of the virus poses an additional threat to their lives. Without consistent access to running water, sanitation, medical services and inability to keep physical distance, these communities are at great risk. ICRC delegations in Africa have stepped up their responses to the global crisis, integrating COVID-19 as an important new parameter in their operations. They are shifting their gears to help prevent or slow down the spread of infection and mitigate other risks arising from the pandemic in many of the places where they operate across Africa. These places include hospitals and clinics damaged by fighting or in areas where hostilities are ongoing; places of detention and camps for internally displaced people or refugees, where social distancing is impossible and access to water and soap is not guaranteed; and hard-to-reach areas, which are often beyond the reach of other aid organizations. ICRC's teams are also fighting to prevent the spread of this disease by supporting vital health care centers and providing crucial items such as soap and masks. For example, ICRC programs seek to build people’s resilience to the pandemic by providing food assistance and support to agriculture, in order to combat hunger, malnutrition and the risks of starvation. These activities aim to help people to meet their basic needs with dignity, help strengthen their resilience, and ensure the delivery of basic services. They constitute the foundation of the ICRC’s COVID-19 response today and will be essential to helping communities emerge from this crisis. Your support will go towards helping 3 of the ICRCs Delegations in South Africa (for the southern Africa region), Kenya and Nigeria with their COVID-19 response, where millions of lives have been impacted. No donation is too little to have an impact on someone’s life – Thank you! The Cisco Foundation will match eligible donations up to $25,000 per employee as part of your annual matching limit. Note on Tax Deductibility: This fund may include organizations based in the US, and in other countries. US employees who make a credit card donation will receive a receipt for tax deductibility for the portion of the donation contributed to US organizations. Employees outside the US will not be able to receive a receipt for tax deductibility for credit card donations to organizations in this fund.
