Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
Empowering women and girls can lift entire communities, help with economic growth and development, and even bolster health outcomes. While great strides have been made in increasing access to education for girls everywhere and women hold more positions in public office, there are major inequities that still need to be addressed.
The need is now
Reforms are needed to give women equal rights to economic resources, as well as access to ownership and control over land and other forms of property, financial services, and inheritances. The wage gap should be eliminated, and greater value placed on unpaid care and domestic work. Greater protections for LGBTQIA+ are necessary around the world.
